Fighting against climate change

CDC Climat, the Caisse des Dépôts’ subsidiary launched in 2010, develops four types of activity:

■ Investing in “eco-service” companies, and providing investment advisory services

■ Structuring and impact investing in climate & energy transition initiatives

■ Climate economics research

■ Advising governments on their climate policy

CDC Climat invests in "eco-service" companies

CDC Climat is a long-term, minority investor in service companies involved in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, promoting energy efficiency measures, and providing adaptation solutions to climate change: measurement and monitoring of GHG emissions, environmental information, energy-efficiency solutions, eco-design and optimisation tools, recycling solutions, eco-mobility, etc.

In addition, CDC Climat advises a number of the Caisse des Dépôts’ investment structures on their cleantech/green investments.

CDC Climat strucures impact investments in climate & energy transition projects

Backed by its experience as an investor in carbon assets, CDC Climat holds a portfolio of high-quality assets in partnership with Proparco, a subsidiary of the AFD (French Development Agency), offering its partners mostly reliable carbon offsetting services. To be consistent with the evolving international climate policy, CDC Climat focuses its activities on the direct funding of emission-reduction initiatives.

CDC Climat equally places its project finance skills at the service of energy transition, thereby supporting major French companies in their energy and environmental competitiveness strategy.

CDC Climat equally spearheads proposals and financial engineering initiatives within the Caisse des Dépôts Group, so as to enable the Group to fulfil its role of supporting France’s public energy-transition policy.
