Information for future pensioners
The law of 21 August 2003 guarantees all economically active people the right to information on their career position. The aim is to allow them to check the insurance periods which have been taken into consideration in order to avoid losses of entitlements and, where necessary, inform them of their estimated pension amount according to the date at which they retire.
The active person receives, every 5 years:
- from the age of 35, an updated individual statement (RIS - relevé individuel de situation) which lists the known periods which entitle to a retirement pension;
- from the age of 55, as well as an RIS, an overall indicative estimation (EIG - estimation indicative globale) which evaluates the future pension.
These data are gathered by a specially created institution, GIP Info retraite, a public service group. It is made up of all the bodies which run retirement pension schemes and State departments responsible for pensions. Caisse des Dépôts is an active member: for instance, it is behind the development of the M@rel online inter-scheme simulation application.
For pension schemes, the right to information is a huge investment. The use of IT tools suited to each scheme and the actions of various teams allow us to rise to the challenge. In response to this obligation, Caisse des Dépôts developed innovative solutions in order to provide a high-performance service.
It is making management activities paper-free in close collaboration with public sector employers. In the process it strives to achieve the most demanding quality and performance standards.
In 2009, the campaign for the right to information concerned five generations instead of four in 2008. About 4 million assured persons received personalized information about their retirement credits, of which 2.7 millions for the funds managed by Caisse des Dépôts compared with 1.9 millions in 2008, that is a 44% increase.
