Caisse des Dépôts the partner of Greater Paris
Territory development - 19 January 2012
On 16 January, Caisse des Dépôts and Plaine Commune signed in Saint-Denis five engineering agreements during the event organized in the Cité du C inéma for the signing of the Greater Paris framework agreement for Plaine Commune and Saint-Ouen.
This first Grand Paris framework agreement was signed by French Prime Minister François Fillon, Patrick Braouzec, President of the Plaine Commune Conurbation and of Paris Métropole, and Jacqueline Rouillon, Mayor of Saint-Ouen, prior to the regional development contract (contrat de développement territorial, CDT) to be signed next year.
The Caisse des Dépôts Group is partnering this strategic project on several fronts, including the co-financing of studies and engineering, under the terms of five agreements signed by its CEO and Chairman, Augustin de Romanet, on 16 January.
Caisse des Dépôts will be supporting the project for this key element of the Grand Paris scheme in various sectors; by working, through Icade, on the development of the EMGP (Entrepôts des Magasins Généraux de Paris) site, home to vast majority of studio-based television production in France, by developing the Cité du Cinéma, in conjunction with Luc Besson and Vinci Immobilier, and by continuing the transformation of major brownfield sites.
Caisse des Dépôts is also backing several real estate investment projects that will benefit SMEs, as well as the development of university clusters that make the Seine-Saint-Denis Department the highest concentration of university facilities outside inner Paris.
As regards the Grand Paris project more specifically, Caisse des Dépôts is involved in the engineering side of drawing up the regional development contract for Plaine Commune-Saint Ouen, and in co-financing a number of economic, digital and urban planning studies.
