Investments for the future  - 26 January 2012

Within the framework of the Program of Investments for the Future (PIA) in favour of the school/work trainings and of the accommodation of the apprentices, five new projects were announced on 25 January 25th by the Prime Minister, François Fillon, on the occasion of a journey in Rhône-Alpes Region.

- Centre for industrial professions and technologies

The project, at the Institut des Ressources Industrielles de Lyon (1,450 work/study trainees), provides for construction of a new building as a centre for further training courses in industry-related sectors. It will also pave the way for developing new courses (higher technicians in new energy design and scaling, innovation design engineers) and increasing the number of engineers trained on work/study programmes. An accommodation project is also being put together in conjunction with the student accommodation agency Crous, with plans to build a 200-unit residence for students and trainees.

- Apprentice training centre sponsored by the Apprentis d’Auteuil youth charity

The project, sponsored by the Fondation des Apprentis d’Auteuil charitable foundation, consists of two complementary initiatives. One is the construction of a new training centre at Loos en Gohelle (Pas-de-Calais), specialising in professions linked to the building trade (eco-construction and eco-renovation), which will ultimately provide 470 apprenticeships or vocational training courses. Under the second, the Fondation des Apprentis d’Auteuil will provide accommodation for 108 apprentices and trainees.

- Mobile training facilities for the building and public works trades

The project to set up a fully mobile training facility for the building and public works sector is sponsored by adult vocational training association Association Nationale pour la Formation Professionnelle des Adultes (Afpa). It will help to meet the work/study training needs of companies bidding successfully for major urban infrastructure projects, taking training resources to where the need exists.

- Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l’Aromatique Alimentaire (ISIPCA)

ISIPCA is the school of reference, both nationally and internationally, in the fields of cosmetics, perfumes and food flavourings. The project is intended to create state-of-the-art laboratories, optimising the space available in order to increase capacity. The project will include a new technical platform designed specifically for very small enterprises and SMEs, to help them develop research and analysis projects. The Versailles Chamber of Commerce and Industry has formed new partnerships with a local housing association for young workers, Association de Logements de Jeunes Travailleurs des Yvelines, in order to provide new housing solutions for students.

- Regional trades and crafts university

The project, sponsored by the Languedoc-Roussillon region Chamber of Trades, will focus on setting up five centres of excellence in certain trades (automotive, care and services to individuals, building, food and gastronomy), diversifying the range of training provision for new and undersubscribed trades (marine leisure, communication and graphic arts, cultural and crafts heritage) and the creation of a training programme in entrepreneurship. At the same time, boarding facilities will be reconfigured to provide total capacity of over 350 places.
