Qualium Investissement buys Kermel

Qualium Investissement, a Caisse des Dépôts, bought from Equistone funds the Kermel group, which is the only producer in the world of polyamide-imide fibers (PAI) fireproof for textile, technical and industrial applications.
This operation will allow the Group to enter a new phase of growth in France and abroad. Created in 1992, the Group employs more than 100 employees in Colmar (68). In 2011 its turnover amounts to €37.5mn, 75% made outside France.
A result of the research of the Rhône Poulenc Group, the fiber Kermel ® is used for the protective wear of the firemen, the policemen and the persons working in the risk sectors. The fiber Kermel Tech is used in industrial applications for the filtration of gaseous effluents and the manufacturing of insulating paper (Kermel Insulright).
At the end of the deal, the funds managed by Qualium Investissement hold the majority of the equity of the Group beside the managers and the executives.
