Harbour City Ferries, which gathers Veolia Transdev Australasia and Transfield Services at parity, has just won the agreement to operate and manage the ferry services of Sydney in Australia.

This agreement, granted by the Government of the State of New South Wales, is a concession for the management and the maintenance of the Sydney Ferries services, namely a fleet of 31 ships and 37 quays, whose 560 employees provide transport for about 14 million passengers per year.

The agreement, which will start at the end of July 2012, is entered for a 7 year period, with an option for extension, involving sales of about AUD800mn, or about €630mn.

Veolia Transdev already manages Sydney’s bus and tramway network as well as the Brisbane ferries service.
