The Caisse des Dépôts group is a "public group serving general interest and economic development".
Created in 1816 to restore confidence following the financial crisis after the Napoleonic wars, its first task is to "receive, conserve and return the values entrusted to it".
From there onwards, its missions have kept growing to correspond to the country's pressing issues.

The Caisse des Dépôts group is made of the Caisse des Dépôts Public Institution and its subsidiary companies. The Public Institution carries out Caisse des Dépôts's traditional missions and general interest tasks. Its subsidiary companies operate within the competitive sector.
Governance
Caisse des Dépôts' governance rules were set by Law when it was created in 1816. This stability is the foundation for Caisse des Dépôts' action.
International
