The Caisse des Dépôts Group operates in over 90 countries through the activities of its subsidiaries. Its role as a long-term institutional investor is central to its corporate purpose. Since 2007, the Group has stepped up its European and international initiatives:
- Engaging with the European communities, primarily through a representative office in Brussels;
- Playing a part in structuring long-term investment tools for the Mediterranean region and Africa;
- Through the Long-Term Investors Club and the Institutional Investors Roundtable, developing a European and global network of major long-term investors, with the support of CDC International (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Caisse des Dépôts Group).
Committed to action in Europe
The context of financial and economic crisis has brought to the fore Caisse des Dépôts' major contribution on the international scene, in order to overcome the difficulties and respond to the need for a stable economy.
The group operates in more than 90 countries through its subsidiaries' activities. It considers its role as a long term international investor, at the heart of its company objectives through the NRE law of 2008, as a way of opening up to other institutions.
This is why it is strengthening its bilateral partnerships with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in Italy, KfW in Germany, the European Investment Bank and also the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion du Maroc.
A structural role in the Mediterranean region and Africa
Given that economic stability needs, the environment and renewable energy, the modernisation of universities, research, housing, transport, etc, are issues for all the EU Member States, the sharing of experience with the group's European partners is essential.
A creator of innovative solutions in these areas, the group wishes to further affirm itself in EU debates and to develop alliance strategies, in particular through the long term investors' club .
In order to strengthen is presence with regard to the European institutions, it has opened a permanent representation in Brussels.
A natural extension of the group with regard to EU institutions, this permanent representation is implementing a strategy to ensure its presence within the European institutions, promote cooperation commitments with its partners and constitute a resource centre at the disposal of the group's professional sectors.
Caisse des Dépôts, a contact and partner of choice for international long-term investors and sovereign funds
The Mediterranean is a priority for Caisse des Dépôts' international expansion strategy.
This has led to the creation of two complementary cooperation platforms:
- The Long-Term Investors Club (LTIC),
- The Institutional Investors Roundtable (IIR), consisting of Caisse des Dépôts and other institutions with massive resources available for global deployment, on projects of interest to Europe and France.
Such institutional cooperation has paved the way for extended funding for projects supported by CDC International.
