Commitment to sustainable development
The group has a keen commitment to sustainable development: renewable energy, protection of biodiversity, socially responsible investment and the fight against climate change are all fields of action and innovation.
Acting for a viable future and for the conservation of the environment is one of the four priorities, a transversal priority. The group's presence in various sectors of activity allows it to act within different facets of the "Grenelle de l’environnement". The group, as a partner to territorial and local authorities, wishes to support them in taking these issues into account.
Building a sustainable town
The Caisse des Dépôts group is implementing all its financial leverage and services to accelerate the development of towns towards a more viable and fit to live in model: eco neighbourhoods, eco campuses, energy saving homes, social mix, attractiveness, soft mobility, etc.
Applying socially responsible investment principles
Caisse des Dépôts possesses and manages a large financial portfolio (transferable securities, real estate, forests, etc.) Taking social responsibility into account within this management and its investment decisions constitutes one of the groups "doctrines".
Investing in renewable energy
Caisse des Dépôts aims to hold 5 % of France's production by 2010 and 10 % by 2020. It should, by 2012, be classed among the top 10 French investors in this promising market.
Protecting biodiversity
Biodiversity conservation is one of the big issues in this 21stcentury debate. Caisse des Dépôts created a new subsidiary company in 2008: CDC Biodiversité. Its vocation: to propose long term solutions to preserve the environment and spaces during the construction of infrastructure or urban building sites.
Putting the environment at the heart of our job areas.
All the subsidiary companies take up initiatives to respond to the sustainable development objectives. Environmental conservation is the rule in each job area and constitutes a performance indicator.
Increaslymore viable
Some examples of the "green and viable" approach :
Egis, leading subsidiary company in infrastructure engineering, is developing its skills as regards the sustainable development of territories: eco-mobility, structure durability, access to water, etc..
- Veolia Transdev, a major European public transport operator, offers to its clients durable mobility and multimodal solutions
