The Caisse des Dépôts group is a public group, a long term investor serving general interest and the economic development of the country.
As a creator of sustainable solutions, it is constantly inventing new ways of supporting national and local public policies. It anticipates, innovates and adapts to tomorrow's challenges.
A unique capacity for long term service
The group is a long term investor: this capacity for long term financial commitment is unique in France. This distinguishes the group from other economic protagonists. Through its long term investments, Caisse des Dépôts gives time for innovation and sustainable growth.
The group invests in development projects in all territories, to respond to needs the market can't meet alone. This role is widely recognised by the political and economic powers.
Thus, Caisse des Dépôts' identity as a long term investor is written into the law for the modernisation of the economy (LME): "Caisse des Dépôts is a long term investor and contributes, in adherence with its patrimony interests, to the development of companies".
For almost 200 years, Caisse des Dépôts has never failed in its mission, whatever the economic situation, thanks to proven know-how:
- an excellent awareness of local issues, through its presence and its close proximity with each of the regions in France,
- a capacity to construct links between the public and private sectors, to create innovative solutions which respond to collective needs.
A public/private mix
The group is made up of the Public Institution and its subsidiary companies. The Public Institution brings together the functional activities (general secretariat, communication, etc) and operational activities (banking departments, savings funds).
The subsidiary companies, carry out market activities, adhering strictly to the rules. But they also contribute to the group's long term social objective:
- directly through their activities: business development (CDC Entreprises…), real estate, services to public authorities (Veolia Transdev, Egis, SNI…),
- indirectly: contributing to Caisse des Dépôts' profits; which finance its general interest projects.
