Our role : serving general interest
General interest evolves with society's needs. Since its creation, Caisse des Dépôts has accompagned this evoltution and got involved to help the country respond to its needs and pressing issues.
To ensure general interest is served, the group's sectors of activity are defined by law (Law on the modernisation of economy, 2008). "Caisse des Dépôts et consignations is a special institution in charge of administering deposits (including compulary ones), providing services related to the funds it has been entrusted to manage and carrying out the other missions legally attributed to it.
It is in charge of protecting popular savings, financing social housing and managing retirement bodies. It also contributes to local and national economic development, particularly in the areas of employement, town policy, fight against banking and financial exclusion, creation of businesses and sustainable development ».
Protecting general interest is also accomplished through the management of lage public missions: management of private and retirement funds, financing social housing. They respond to ongoing collective needs and are the heart of national cohesion. Caisse des Dépôts commits itself to an optimal performance.
To play this role, the Caisse des Dépôts Group acts in complete neutrality, supporting national and local public powers and taking no stance.
As a public representative (management of deposits including compulsary ones, saving funds, pension schemes) Caisse des Dépôts favours the financial security of the private funds it is entrusted with. It commits to providing the best service at the best price.
Two types of investment
Caisse des Dépôts makes long term investments, mainly within French territory and as a minority shareholder alongside private investors. It always invests whlst remaining attentive to the protection of its patrimony and the governance of companies in which it holds a substantial share.
It makes two types of investments.
General interest investments aiming to bring solutions to respond to collective needs. These mainly concern the development of territories and SMEs.
