La résidence intergénérationnelle de Viriat

In 2013, the Ain département launched an appeal to the housing authorities, communities and home care organizations for the piloting of Haissor projects for senior citizens. Dynacité, the Ain’s OPH (State Housing Agency), the municipality of Viriat and the Adapa home help agency have joined together to present an innovative housing project which encourages intergenerational diversity.

The residences’ day room offers various areas and subspaces (dining areas, kitchen areas, areas for relaxation and for access to the internet); it can be rearranged to suit different events, seasons and changes in requirements during the building’s lifetime. They are flooded with natural light and are particularly appreciated by older residents. Each apartment has a small terrace which is connected to all the others, providing access to the day room terrace and encouraging people to socialise. Contact between residents (aged from 0 - 90) currently shows that the watchwords fellowship, good will and friendliness have real meaning.

Dynacité, the project’s developer, has worked in close collaboration with Adapa and the municipality of Viriat - which made the property available free of charge - so as to design a project which respects the hopes and needs of all the different residents. Adapa is responsible for maintaining the communal areas, providing individual assistance and managing the socio-gerontological project.
