Bouches-du-Rhône: supporting the revitalization of the city of Arles

On 6 July Eric Lombard, Chief Executive Officer of Caisse des Dépôts, was in the Bouches-du-Rhône département. In particular, he signed Arles’ Action Cœur de ville framework agreement and a loan agreement with this city.

Signature avec la Ville d’Arles

On 6 July in Arles, Pierre Dartout, Prefect of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region and President of the Arles Crau Camargue Montagnette (ACCM) conurbation authority, Hervé Schiavetti, Mayor of Arles, Philippe Honoré, President of the Action Logement PACA Corsica committee, representing ANAH, and Eric Lombard signed the Action Cœur de ville framework agreement.

On this occasion, a €3.2mn savings fund loan agreement was signed between Caisse des Dépôts via its Banque des Territoires and the City of Arles in favour of urban planning policy and the redevelopment of public spaces and facilities in the city centre.

Arles (53,000 inhabitants) wants to make the renovation of the city centre a real act of regeneration for its territory, initially by making it more accessible (pedestrianisation and creation of a park and ride car park on the Roman Circus peninsula), by bringing together the public services and by committing to thermal rehabilitation works for secondary schools.

Different approaches will be studied then: heritage, housing, shops, mobility, public spaces and also economic development.
