The PIA therefore provided €9.76mn of a total of €27.2mn (including €19mn for the building and €8.2mn for equipment). The European Union - through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) -, the Grand Est region and the Euro metropolis of Strasbourg took part in the construction of Ease to the amount of €4mn each, while private backers provided €5.44mn in funds.

The Ease project was the first recipient of the PIA in May 2011 under the section dedicated to sandwich courses and apprentice accommodation. Ease is partnered with training and academic organisations as well as with industrials from the medicine, chemistry and agri-food sector. The building houses a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant with a total of 4,300 sq.m of floor space, including over 2,000 sq.m. of cleanrooms. This high-tech facility is equipped with 3 production lines (sterile injectable liquids, tablets, capsules and biopharmaceuticals) and all systems to support production (air treatment, production of utilities, ultrapure water and stream, and pharmaceutical fluids).

Ease is linked to a university residential building for those following sandwich courses located 400 m away, in partnership with the Crous of Strasbourg.
