Inauguration of the Résidence Habitat jeunes du Perche in Saint Langis les Mortagne

On 18 September, Isabelle Saffrey, the Caisse des Dépôts Basse-Normandie regional manager, inaugurated the Résidence Habitat jeunes du Perche in Saint Langis les Mortagne in the presence of Isabelle David, the Prefect of Orne, Véronique Louwagie, the Deputy of Orne and the Mayor of L’Aigle, Jean-Claude Lenoir, the Senator of Orne, Guy Monhée, the Chairman of Orne Housing and Christine Roimier, the President of Althéa.

Education & training

The construction project, overseen by the main contractor Orne Habitat, will allow the conversion of a former gendarmerie into 24 housing units earmarked for young people on work-linked training courses (apprentices, holders of professional-training contracts, and students doing work-linked training). Implementing the project will enable accommodation requirements to be met for young people hosted by local enterprises, and it will encourage development of the territory whilst incorporating the societal, ecological, and economic aspects of sustainable development.

Rental management, facilitation, and individual support for young people will be carried out by Althéa, a community education association. Financing for the project is €1,638,566, and it involved several partners. The French State made a commitment thanks to a grant of €500, 000 from the Programme of Investments for the Future (PIA) for work-linked training; the grant was assessed by Caisse des Dépôts, which also made an additional loan of €59,187 for the construction project.
