Involved in the revitalization of downtown Aurillac

On 4 December, the City of Aurillac, Bassin d'Aurillac agglomeration community and Caisse des Dépôts signed, in the presence of Jacques Mézard, the Minister for Territory Cohesion, a “Downtown of Tomorrow” agreement in favour of the revitalization of Aurillac city centre.

Territory development

Through this agreement, the Caisse des Dépôts Group is offering the town of Aurillac a complete and operational support package for taking its urban plans to enhance its town centre further, in keeping with the territorial strategy of the Bassin d’Aurillac urban area community.

The Caisse des Dépôts Group will be drawing on its expertise and know-how – financing engineering studies, loans from savings funds and equity investments in particular – with three main aims in mind:

  • renovation of Ilot Gerbert: renovation of private and old housing, clearing buildings, new range of housing for social diversity;
  • urban planning: urban reconstruction studies, definition of the parking strategy, construction of a transport interchange hub and study to redevelop the banks of the River Jordanne;
  • key infrastructure and sustainable development: reorganisation of the childcare centre, creation of a digital public space, enhancement of the archaeological site Saint Géraud.
As part of its missions serving the public interest and local area appeal, on 30 March 2016 Caisse des Dépôts launched the Town Centre of Tomorrow initiative. Via a dedicated offering, this tool sets out to reduce the development gaps between medium-sized town centres (15,000 to 100,000 inhabitants) and large cities and helps to reinvent the Town Centre of Tomorrow.

Inauguration de la Chaufferie bois et son réseau de chaleur à Vic-sur-Cère
On the morning of 4 December, Caisse des Dépôts joined Jacques Mézard in attending the inauguration of Chaufferie bois and its heating network in Vic-sur-Cère. This initiative is contributing to long-term investment in this local area, to its appeal in the eyes of businesses and to a faster energy transition. €1.8mn of this €4.2mn operation came from Caisse des Dépôts via a Green Growth loan from savings funds.
