Mobility: Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération creates a universal mobility account

On 12 March Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération and Caisse des Dépôts signed a co-financing agreement for the creation of the Mobility Account, which will enable users to pay each month in post-payment for their journeys at the best rate, regardless of the transport operator. This project is unique in Europe.

Le Compte Mobilité de Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération
This agreement provides for the financing of the experimental Compte Mobilité, which will be officially launched for the general public in September 2018. Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération is thus committing itself to a move towards smart mobility, by creating services which will allow its users access to the whole range of transport services available in the region: buses, trams, bikes, car sharing and parking. The platform will provide its users with an individual and tailored account which will allow them to pay for their journeys using a monthly post-payment system; they will be entitled to the cheapest rates, whichever transport operator they use.

This partnership-based approach was initiated in 2015 and is the result of a joint development initiative uniting all the local partners offering transport services1, the institutional and technical partners2 - including Caisse des Dépôts and Transdev - and its future users in a spirit of civic commitment.

The trial requires an overall investment of €605,500 which will be co financed by Caisse des Dépôts to the tune of €100,000.

This is an innovative project and the only one of its kind at both national and European levels: on 6 December 2017, it was awarded the Label OR at Forum des interconnectés (a forum for regional innovation and digital services) in the category Vie Quotidienne Mobilité (Everyday Mobility).
