A partnership agreement with Métropole européenne de Lille

On 14 December, a partnership agreement describing the common areas of work for the development of the territory of Métropole européenne de Lille was signed by Damien Castelain, the Chairman of Métropole européenne de Lille (MEL), and Marc Abadie, the Caisse des Dépôts Director of the Network and Local Development.

This agreement is within the context of Caisse des Dépôts’ support for the metropolises; support which is listed under the French modernisation law for public action. Since January 2015, the European Metropolis status, has been positioning the European Metropolis of Lille as a leader of all the structuring policies in the regional territory and beyond. This transformation has led it to undertake a collective, ambitious and innovative project and to take on new competencies.

 

In this context, the European Metropolis of Lille and Caisse des Dépôts are working together around 7 priority development areas:

  • The digital transition,
  • Economic development,
  • The ecological and energy transition,
  • Solidarity,
  • Property,
  • The consolidation of cross-border and European development,
  • Mobility.

 

To support the European Metropolis of Lille in the creation of its projects, Caisse des Dépôts will provide its expertise and its intervention tools to serve the appeal and competitiveness of the territory. It will bring financial support of €921,000 over the 2015-2020 period. In an initial phase, it will contribute over €250,000 to the financing of studies and expertise.
