The Mobilinx consortium, of which Transdev is a member, has won a contract worth €3.15bn for the Hurontario tramway project in the Toronto area (Canada). Mobilinx will design, build, finance, operate and maintain it for 30 years.
On 25 July Transdev Sweden signed an agreement to take 100% of the shares of A Björks AB, a Swedish public transport operator. This acquisition strengthens Transdev's position as the 3rd largest public transport operator in Sweden, with new services and markets, mainly for buses and coaches.
Transdev Sweden has just won the bus operating market in Gothenburg, Sweden's 2nd largest city, for a total value of €757mn. Five new 10-year agreements that will start in December 2020 and make Transdev the only bus operator in Gothenburg and its region, carrying 71 million passengers annually from 2023.
Summer starts strong for Transdev: the company will operate France's first hydrogen electric bus line, which will connect Auchel to Buay-la-Buissière (Pas-de-Calais). Internationally, the Group has converted the try in Dublin winning the tramway operation and maintenance contract for 6 years.
The Transdev Group has won the contract to operate and maintain the Fairfax County bus network in Virginia (United States), Fairfax Connector, for a value of about €400mn. It will operate it from 1 July for 5 years*. Furthermore, Transdev sold its long-distance coach business (Eurolines-isilines) to Flixbus.
Transdev Germany has won the €1.5bn tender to extend Bremen's regional train network (Regio S-Bahn). This new agreement follows the €1.5bn previous one concerning the 10 regional S-Bahn RER lines in Hanover won by Transdev in November 2018.
2018 is a good year forTransdev from the point of view of commercial performance, particularly in international markets. Beyond the financial results, 2018 marks the consolidation of Transdev's shareholder structure and the definition of its new strategy.
