Creation of CDC Ixis

Financial activities

Caisse des Dépôts structures all of its competitive financial job areas within a subsidiary company, CDC Ixis, an investment and asset management bank.
In 2002, the activities of CDC Ixis and the Caisses d’épargne network were brought together for the first time within a holding, Eulia, held jointly by Caisse des Dépôts and Caisse nationale des Caisses d’épargne.

Through giving up its majority share in CDC Ixis to Caisses d’épargne in 2004, Caisse des Dépôts contributed to founding a new large universal French bank.  It became the strategic shareholder with 35% of shares.

In 2006, faced with Caisse d’Epargne and Banque Populaire’s project to bring together their investment bank activities, Caisse des Dépôts decided to sell its shares in the CNCE, for a total of € 7 billion, including € 2 billion capital gain.

The agreement also comprises an important industrial section, reinforcing Caisse des Dépôts’ strategy and the development of its subsidiary companies: CNP Assurances, SNI, Icade and capital investment.
