Egis: Palembang light rail in service for the 2018 Asian Games

The city of Palembang in Indonesia has the very first light rail transit (LRT) system on the island of Sumatra, a plus for the 2018 Asian Games, which began on 18 August. Egis provides technical assistance, system security and commercial management services thanks to a team of experts on site.

The Palembang light rail has been in service since the month of August, carrying passengers from terminal to terminal, although all stops are not yet served. Entirely airborne, it has 13 stations over 24 kilometres, and links the airport (north of the city) to the town centre and to the Jakabaring sport complex (in the south).
The Egis group has been in Indonesia since 1979, where its expertise is recognised in particular in the road, rail, air, water and mining sectors. Through its subsidiary PT Egis International Indonesia, Egis meets the colossal infrastructure needs of this country.

The 2018 Asian Games is the 18th edition of the Asian Games, the first of which was held in 1951 in Delhi (India). This multisport competition will be held in Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Over 10,000 athletes from 45 countries will attend representing around forty disciplines. This competition is the second largest multisport event after the Olympic Games.
