Incorporate climate risks

Climate change can incur physical risks i.e. material damage caused by weather and climate events, and transitional risks i.e. the consequences of poorly anticipated or abrupt adjustments to a low-carbon economy. These risks could have a significant financial impact on our institution.

As a result, the Group has created a plan to incorporate climate risks into its risk management policies and processes.  Caisse des Dépôts has undertaken four steps:

  • It has included climate risks in its risk management policies since 2018;
  • It has included climate risks in the internal financial ratings developed by the Risk Management Department;
  • It has constructed a score that rates the climate risk to the Group’s financial statement;
  • Assessing the financial impact of different climate scenarios
