Caisse des Dépôts' aggregate earnings for 2019 are €2.7bn. This strong result shows the good performance of the business lines, subsidiaries and equity investments in an unprecedented economic context of low interest rates with a rebound in the equity market at the end of 2019. Caisse des Dépôts will be able to contribute €1.4bn to the French State budget.

The 2019 aggregate result of €2.7bn is made up of the attributable net profit of the central section, which amounts to €2.056bn, and the current income of the Savings Fund, which amounts to €679mn.

The aggregate result of the central section is up compared to 2018, with in particular :

  • a sharp increase in equity gains linked to the real estate portfolios (+€201mn) and the turnover of the Banque des Territoires' asset portfolios (+€149mn);
  • a favourable impact of market trends (+€266mn);
  • dynamic contributions from strategic subsidiaries (€328mn).

This result includes the impact of the merger with La Poste.

The Savings Fund strengthened its financial strength with a profit from ordinart activities of €679mn, despite a persistently low interest rate environment that weighed in particular on revenues from inflation-indexed products (-€627mn). It also includes the cost of exceptional interest rebates to social housing organizations under Housing Plan 2 (€150mn) and the exceptional increase in the bank accessibility fee paid to La Banque Postale (€50mn).

Caisse des Dépôts will pay €1.4bn to the State budget for its 2019 results, including €1,069mn for the central section result and €368mn for the contribution representing corporate income tax.
