In Sweden, Transdev will transport Gothenburg

Transdev Mobilité

Transdev Sweden has just won the bus operating market in Gothenburg, Sweden's 2nd largest city, for a total value of €757mn. Five new 10-year agreements that will start in December 2020 and make Transdev the only bus operator in Gothenburg and its region, carrying 71 million passengers annually from 2023.

Transdev will put 160 new zero-emission electric buses into operation of the 370 buses concerned by these contracts. The 210 other buses will be operated without fossil fuels and powered using only biofuels. Transdev already operates close to 60 electric buses in Sweden, notably in Umeå, Eskilstuna, Stockholm and Gothenburg. Thus, in December 2020, Transdev will be operating 220 electric buses in Sweden, representing the largest fleet of electric buses in the country.

Reducing economic and energy dependency on fossil fuels is a priority for Transdev and for Europe in order to ensure that our economic model transitions towards an ever-cleaner sustainable model.

Thierry Mallet, président-directeur général du Groupe Transdev

These agreements reinforce Transdev’s presence in Sweden, following the announcement of a large ferry agreelent in the Stockholm archipelago in December 2018.

It should also be noted that, as from this summer, Transdev will operate the first electric bus line powered on hydrogen in France, in the Pas-de-Calais département.

At the end of 2018, Transdev was already operating over 600 electric buses and minibuses across 30 sites in 7 countries and this number should reach 700 by the end of 2019. Furthermore, through the operational commitments made in ongoing agreements and tenders, Transdev plans to operate over 1,500 electric buses by 2024.
